[New Music] BLACK DRAGON ROSE By @QueenTheProphet (QueenTheProphet)

Maya Angelou 1928-2014 (RIP)

Today we mourn the passing of a Phenomenal Woman (author/poet) Maya Angelou (86). Maya has touched the lives of many through her work and leaves behind a legacy.

Born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, writer and civil rights activist Maya Angelou is known for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made literary history as the first nonfiction best-seller by an African-American woman. In 1971, Angelou published the Pulitzer Prize-nominated poetry collection Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water ‘Fore I Die. She later wrote the poem “On the Pulse of Morning”—one of her most famous works—which she recited at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993. Angelou has received several honors throughout her career, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work (nonfiction) category, in 2005 and 2009.
Angelou has written several autobiographies throughout her career, including All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes (1986) and A Song Flung Up to Heaven (2002), but 1969’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings continues to be regarded as her most popular autobiographical work. She has also published several collections of poetry, including Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water ‘Fore I Die (1971), which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.

One of Angelou’s most famous works is the poem “On the Pulse of Morning,” which she wrote especially for and recited at President Bill Clinton’s inaugural ceremony in January 1993—marking the first inaugural recitation since 1961, when Robert Frost delivered his poem “The Gift Outright” at President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration. Angelou went on to win a Grammy Award (best spoken word album) for the audio version of the poem.

In 1995, Angelou was lauded for remaining on The New York Times’ paperback nonfiction best-seller list for two years—the longest-running record in the chart’s history.

Seeking new creative challenges, Angelou made her directorial debut in 1998 with Down in the Delta, starring Alfre Woodard. She has also written a number of inspirational works, from the essay collection Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now (1994) to her advice for young women in Letter to My Daughter (2008). Interested in health, Angelou has even published cookbooks, including Hallelujah! The Welcome Table: A Lifetime of Memories With Recipes (2005) and Great Food, All Day Long (2010).

Angelou’s career has seen numerous accolades, including the Chicago International Film Festival’s 1998 Audience Choice Award and a nod from the Acapulco Black Film Festival in 1999 for Down in the Delta; and two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work (nonfiction) category, for her 2005 cookbook and 2008’s Letter to My Daughter.

Dr. G is a hip-hop producer from Manchester U.K, and has been working within the music industry since 1993 starting out as a D.J. He was also involved in club and events organising with SONY MUSIC Street Team and as a DEF JAM street team rep., organizing numerous events at the Manchester M.E.N such as Lauryan Hill, Destiny’s Child and Dead Prez. This position allowed him to enter a large celebrity circle meeting some of the industry greats; Eminem, Destiny’s Child, TQ, Common Sense, Xzibit, Wu Tang, Saigon, and Mohamed Ali.

Now producer for many English, American and Eastern European hip-hop artists from underground, old school, new school independent artists and some major emcees respectively. Spending countless days in the studio he realised this was the side of music he enjoyed most and spent most of his time working on mix tapes for local groups and artists such as artists such as Shotty Horror, Rokket, Meany, Omen RA, Hoodman (Tyler Daley) and HiJack Hood. While perfecting his style of production, by 2007 the release of “Above The Systematic Matrix” under revolutionary records featuring many of U.K and U.S artists, and then in 2008 released his debut solo and self-produced album Last Dayz featuring Shyheim finally giving him a starting point.
Later producing tracks for St. Laz, and Opium while being featured on many of their mix tapes and getting recognised by D.J Kay Slay on New York’s HOT 97 many times. HE then started gaining notoriety with other artists from around the boroughs working with artists such as: Shabazz the Disciple, Agallah Don Bishop, Chuck Burns, Rap P and more recently being involved with Hell Razah and his Ghetto Government movement producing most of his album which will be due out early next year. Roots by @queentheprophet

images (62)
A root is a part of a plant that attaches it to the ground or to a support, typically underground, conveying water and nourishment to the rest of the plant via numerous branches and fibers.
Roots aren’t just about plants. A root can also be defined as the basic cause, source, or origin of something. People have roots too. We have ancestry roots, ethnicity roots, family roots, and we have roots in our spirit. How do we get roots in our spirit? Life, love, hurts, pains, experiences, etc. all of these things form roots within our spirit and manifest themselves in the forms of our behavior, speech, perception, etc. When a Mother or Father holds their baby, tells the baby they love them these words are like seeds that are being sprinkled in the baby’s spirit. These seeds grow, take root and begin to grow. If these seeds of love are nourished, they will grow and become the foundation of what makes that baby grow into an emotionally healthy adult.

Most people do not consciously plant bad seeds, but it happens. Rejections, hurts, pains, sickness, disappointments, traumas can all plant bad seeds. Bad seeds can take root inside a person’s spirit and grow with them their entire lives. Have you ever heard someone say that they don’t trust anybody? It’s because seeds of mistrust were planted inside their spirit long ago and every additional incident layering the original is like its fertilizer. If you look at a picture of a tree most of the time all you see is what is on the surface or above ground. If you look at a picture of a tree both above ground and what is underneath the surface, this can help you visualize a picture of how things may appear normal on the surface but are very complex underneath.

What we have in our world today is millions of people walking around with internal rotting spiritual vineyards inside of them and most of them are completely unaware that it is these roots that are choking the life out of them and their ability to be in peace, control their emotions, control their behavior, and in the worst cases? It prevents them from giving and or receiving love. When people get involved in personal relationships with either on a friendship or personal level, nine times out of ten the relationships fail, break down, or are the empty shell of what it’s supposed to be. Unfortunately, this becomes a domino effect because these thoughts, feelings, and emotions get passed to the next generation unless someone at some point breaks the cycle and charts a new course.
With God all things are possible. I don’t say it because it sounds good, I say it because I know it. I’d be here all day if I was to sit and write everything He’s done for me, in me, and through me. God does not like me better than anyone. Grace, healing, and freedom are things He gives freely to anyone who truly seeks it.
Be blessed-

Blog Submission Themes for May!

Greetings Fam!

I’m going to try my best to give you advance notice about upcoming blog themes. April has been a great success with readers submitting poems & information about Autism. Since #OPERATIONREVOLUTION is not just about the music we make at Battlegrownd Entertainment, I want to make sure I continue to offer ways that fans, supporters, & readers can interact with the blog. Every month, I’ll post the coming month’s themes. You can submit poems, stories, pictures, testimonies, uTube videos, your business information as long as it directly relates to that month’s themes. I do this certainly not because I’m not busy…LOL I do it because frankly, all of our success at Battlegrownd Entertainment is because of our supporters so this is our way of showing that same support.
