Miley Cyrus at MTV VMAs all the rage on Twitter

The pop star’s performance at the award show yielded 4.5 million mentions and 306,100 tweets per minute.

Pop star Miley Cyrus was a hot topic on Twitter following her controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance on Sunday night.

According to new data from Twitter, Miley Cyrus’ performance with Robin Thicke at the VMAs triggered 306,100 tweets per minute. For comparison, Justin Timberlake’s performance during the award show registered nearly 220,000 tweets per minute. Drake’s performance was close behind with 194,500 tweets per minute.

Similarly, Cyrus, who performed in what is being called a “suggestive” way, was mentioned 4.5 million times last night on Twitter. Timberlake and Lady Gaga followed her with 2.9 million mentions and 1.9 million mentions, respectively.

According to Twitter, the data includes only tweets from the East Coast airing of the show. More data points will be released soon including all airings.

Miley Cyrus took the stage at the 2013 show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to flaunt her seriously toned body and renowned dance moves, working the crowd during her performance of “We Can’t Stop.”

She then stuck around, stripping down to a latex bikini gyrating with a foam finger to help out Robin Thicke during his rendition of “Blurred Lines.”

Hollywood is not all you think it’s cracked up to be Fam. We must exercise compassion but the tolerance for what you allow your own children to be exposed to is your personal job and choice as a parent. In the entertainment industry there is a famous saying ” Any press is good press”. Some of the things you see are entirely staged and the goal is to outrage you. Why? Well as you just read above on Twitter alone, Miley was pulling 306k tweets per minuet. Sometimes these things aren’t staged and there is a much deeper meaning behind what you’re seeing.
